El Centro Naval Air Station KNJK Excerpt from WWW.GlobalSecurity.Org Naval Air Facility El Centro was commissioned on May 1st 1946, as a Naval Air Station. Before this, the base was a Marine Corps Air Station. Through the years, Navy El Centro had several names: Naval Air Facility, Naval Auxiliary Landing Field, Naval Air Station, and the National Parachute Test Range. Today, NAF El Centro, under the command of Commander, Navy Region Southwest, provides realistic training to aviation units and activities of the Navys operating and training forces. Aviation squadrons visit NAF El Centro to practice gunnery, bombing, carrier landings and air combat. The facility has two operating runways. The 9,500-foot east/west runway handles 96% of the traffic. It is equipped with a Fresnel Lens Optical Landing System at each approach end as well as lighted carrier deck landing areas at both ends so pilots can simulate ship landings. Apart from touch and go landings and take-offs, aircrews utilize the many ranges at NAF El Centro to develop their skills. A remotely controlled target area allows naval aviators to practice ordnance delivery. The desert range is used for air-to-ground bombing, rocket firing, strafing, dummy drops and mobile land target training. The target complex uses the Weapons Impact Scoring System that microwaves imaging to a range master control building.

FS2004 Scenery for Seymour Johnson AFB (KGSB) Goldsboro, North Carolina (NC) USA. Covering about 3300 acres in Goldsboro area of North Carolina, Seymour Johnson Ari Force Base has been an important fighter pilot training facility since rom it's opening in 1943. After training up Thunderbolt pilots for World War II the base was closed after the war in 1946 only to be re-opened as the need for top-flight pilots again made it's claim in 1955. The 4th Fighter Wing took up residence shortly afterward in 1957 and has been there ever since. As home of the 4th, "SJ" is assigned the care of numerous fighter squadrons boasting a total of over 96 F-15 Eagle fighter aircraft. The base is also fully staffed with complete support and maintenance units including elements of the venerable 916th Air Refueling Wing. John Stinstrom

FS2004 Scenery USS Mispillion AO-105, Subic Bay, Philippines. This scenery package depicts Mispillion as she is exiting the harbor at Subic Bay, Philippines. For many years the United States maintained a complex of Naval installations in and around Subic Bay, Subic Bay Naval Station, and shipyard, and Cubi Point Naval Air Station. During the Vietnam war, Mispillion and other oiler's made countless trips between Subic Bay and "The Line" off the coast of Vietnam, transporting fuel, supplies and ammunition to ships. By Earl A.
